As if simply DOING the Chevy Sonic “Bungee” stunt (while streaming it LIVE to the Internet!) wasn’t reward enough (case study video), the team here at Syyn Labs has the honor of having a spot with video of the stunt air during this year’s Super Bowl!

Watch for it during the second quarter!

Congrats to all of the Syyners and friends who helped make this possible – especially Davis Galligan, David Mesloh, Matt Samsel, Dan Busby, Hector Alvarez, Mike Russek, Will Reeve, Gilles d’Amecourt, Kenny Abney, Chris Stockton, and Sam Leventer.

And check out the use of the OK Go Rube Goldberg Machine video in another Chevy Superbowl spot!

Thanks Chevy and OK Go!! We love you, too!

Led by creatives Hector Alvarez and Mike Russek, the folks at Syyn Labs have created a machine that is a vision of beauty and grace. The machine, created to celebrate Wonka’s latest Golden Ticket Promotion, is available for viewing live for a limited time in the Wonka window in the Toys R Us at 44th and Broadway in New York (Times Square!). Here’s a behind the scenes look at the creation of the machine, and how Mike’s inspiration – moving from physical to digital then back again – was an essential spark.

Watch Fullscreen Video Here…

Syyn Labs is delighted to have been commissioned to install a new interactive piece at the Santa Monica GLOW Festival on Sept. 25th, 2010. This is a quick introductory film. It’s a 100-foot-long LED sculpture of 512 computer controlled full-color LED lights suspended from the trellice just south of the Casa Del Mar hotel (map). It goes on display at twilight and wil run continuously until 3am, but get there early. They’re expecting quite a crowd!

Special thanks to Hector Alvarez and David Guttman for putting this film together, and the whole team for working so hard getting this project together.

Disney XD RGM

Syyn Labs and Riverstreet Productions partnered to produce a station ID for Disney XD. Syyn Labs built the 15 second machine using all kinds of materials found in a typical teenage boy’s world – bed, alarm clock, skateboard, balls of all kinds, a drum and pedal, bike, a baseball glove, and… well, we took a little license including the paint canons. The paint fired against a wall knocked out the XD revealing a view of the green colored wall behind. The vibration of the paint hitting the wall knocked the Disney logo loose which then falls into place on hinges. The result is just gorgeous.

We all know DieHard batteries are tough. But you need more than just a clear name and a promise to prove your worth in this world, so DieHard recently decided to create a series of videos showing just how much their batteries could take.

When the rock band OK Go, famous for their viral videos including the spectacular and award winning “treadmills video“, wanted to feature a 4-minute long Rube Goldberg Machine in an upcoming video, they tapped Syyn Labs to build it.

The requirements were that it had to be interesting, not “overbuilt” or too technology-heavy, and easy to follow. The machine also had to be built on a shoestring budget, synchronize with beats and lyrics in the music and end on time over a 3.5 minute song, play a part of the song, and be filmed in one shot. To make things more challenging still, the space chosen was divided into two floors and the machine would use both.

We had our work cut out for us; every facet of Syyn Labs’ expertise was required to meet this tremendous challenge. See the results of this remarkable effort in the video embedded above.

Rubens’ Tube

Created by: Dan Busby

The Rubens’ tube is an acoustically coupled flame effect. When music is played through the loudspeaker on the end the flames wiggle and dance to the beat. The Rubens’ tube brings together our primal affinities toward music and fire that all humans share. The result is a mesmerizing and unique light show that captivates the audience.

An IR LED array calculates an approximate representation of the human standing in front of the display. This ‘marshmallow man’ figure can then avoid obstacles, jump through hoops and otherwise make the player look absolutely silly in front of their friends. Hooray!
