Do you follow us on Twitter yet? If not, you should – and then you will be able to wow your friends with awesomeness. Take for example, Robot Quadrotors. They are cutting edge flying machines, that will one day watch you and supress you when you are deemed a threat to civil order. But for now they do awesome stuff like fly in formation and perform James Bond theme like a tiny, autonomous orchestra!

“These flying quadrotors are completely autonomous, meaning humans are not controlling them; rather they are controlled by a computer programed with instructions to play the instruments. Penn’s School of Engineering and Applied Science is home to some of the most innovative robotics research on the planet, much of it coming out of the General Robotics, Automation, Sensing and Perception (GRASP) Lab.”

projection.jpg

One of our favorite links from this week, is a fantastic moireé effect, created by a mix of projected & physical lines.

Fast Co Design says: “Made in collaboration by Annica Cuppetelli and Cristobal Mendoza, Nervous Structure (Field) is an installation piece designed to confuse and then illuminate the line between the physical and digital. 144 vertical lines are strung and then 144 lines of light are projected on to them. The lines of light respond to the movement of visitors and the result is a hypnotic field of waves and moire patterns.”
